America has a doctor problem, although the extent of the dilemma varies by state. The looming shortage of physicians could be exacerbated by an aging population and an influx of doctor visits since more Americans have access to affordable health care. Some studies have suggested that by 2025, the United States will be short up to 90,000 physicians.

Aging patients and doctors will continue to put pressure on the healthcare industry, resulting in a physician shortage of between 46,900 and 121,900 doctors by 2032, the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) reports.
The fifth annual study, prepared by the Life Science division of IHS Markit for AAMC, reveals that the growing and aging population continues to be a major driver of the updated physician shortage, which is similar to the previous study’s projected shortage range for 2030 of between 42,600 and 121,300 doctors.

More accurately, there is a looming shortage that could be exacerbated by an aging population and an influx of doctor visits because more Americans have access to affordable health care. A medical clinic in Lower Sackville, N.S., will close its doors this week and a shortage of doctors is to blame.
The Community Care Walk-in Clinic, located in the Lawtons Drugs store on Cobequid Road, will shut down on Tuesday.
A note posted on the door of the clinic reads: "Unfortunately, despite our best efforts to recruit new physicians to work at this clinic, we have been unsuccessful, leaving an untenable work schedule on those of us remaining at the clinic."

A doctor shortage in the Eastern Townships community of Lac-Brome has left more than 3,000 patients without a family physician, including McCubbin, whose doctor of more than 40 years recently retired.
With two of Lac-Brome's family doctors retiring on the heels of a third who left last year but hasn't yet been replaced, the number of physicians serving the community has been cut in half — from six to three — in the past 18 months.
